Undark gets glowing review in Alberta Views

Sandy Pool gets some well-deserved praise in the April 2013 edition of Alberta Views for her latest collection, Undark: An Oratorio. In this review, an insightful comparison is made between reading these poems and experiencing an intricate musical piece. Reviewer Julie Sedivy draws attention to the lyrical flow between contrasting voices throughout the book and Pool’s ability to interplay light and sound to create a moving tribute. Sedivy offers this conclusion:

“But Pool’s book offers more than a gorgeous sensory experience, or even a poetic monument to the silent lives of the Radium Girls. It’s also a harrowing meditation on the darkness that can result when humanity attempts to lean away from the blackness of night and manufacture its own light.”
