Verse Subversive: Ray Hsu on reinventing poetry

In a recent interview in The Ubyssey, Nightwood poet Ray Hsu talks about breaking down traditional ideas of poetics and searching out what contemporary poetry should look like. His concept has no limits on form and expression: “Because poetry is the air that I breathe and the way that I think, that could encompass anything.”

Read more of this interview here and discover how Ray Hsu plans to blow things up: “There will always be people writing in stanzas with line breaks…. There will always be people who hold down the fort in poetry land,” Hsu said. “I think my efforts are needed elsewhere.”
